Easter Eggs Plan A and Plan B

What to do when hosting the kids/grands for Easter in the midst of moving out of my house? Dye Easter eggs of course! I read online about this funky way of dying eggs involving whipped cream, food coloring and a ziploc bag. What could possibly go wrong? My partner in crime, Kayla (Will's girlfriend) was willing to give it a try with me.

Although it looked really cool in the ziploc bag, when wiped off it was just a very pale blue egg with no marble effect.

We spent some time researching what we could do differently to get the marble effect on our Easter Eggs. By the time the grand girls arrived we had plan "B" ready to go.

Step #1 was 1 cup warm water, 5 drops of food coloring and 1 tsp white vinegar. This was to be the light colored base coat.

Soak the hard boiled egg for 1 minute and put on paper towel to dry.

Step #2 was to make a another color for the marble effect by putting 1 cup warm water, 10-20 drops of food coloring and 1 tablespoon vegetable oil.

The colors are more intense. Put your hard boiled egg into the darker color and stir around until you start seeing the effect you want.

Finished Project!
