My Dream Easter Basket

I did not grow up with the Easter basket tradition. my parents taught that Easter was strictly a religious holiday. Lest you feel sorry for me, my mom always sewed me a new Easter dress, and often bought a hat and shoes to complete the outfit!

What I found so funny is that as soon as my parents became grandparents, out came the Easter baskets for my children. I love the idea of putting together Easter baskets. I REALLY love the idea of putting together Easter baskets THIS year! If all goes to plan my guy and I will be fully vaccinated by Easter and my kids and grands will be at my house for Easter. I am beyond excited to all be together. I have not been able to see my family open Christmas gifts or birthday gifts for over a year. Bring on the Easter baskets!

Easter baskets are not just for kids. The big kids are going to find a few goodies in their "baskets" as well. Since I don't want to ruin the surprises I thought I would put together a dream Easter Basket for myself as an example.

Recently, I watched the PBS version of "All Creatures Great and Small". Then I found the book "Every Living Thing" in our condo's free little library. I am so enjoying this book, can't believe I haven't read this author before! I would put one of James Herriot's books in my Easter Basket.

PBS had a documentary about Agatha Christie which just fascinated me. I discovered another gap in my reading. I have never read an Agatha Christie book! Shame on me. I would put "Murder on the Orient Express" in my fictional Easter Basket.

I discovered Pura Vida bracelets last Christmas as stocking stuffers. I love that some of the money goes to worthy causes. They are so simple and I like how you just pull on the ends to tighten it around your wrist. The one pictured is for "Save the Dolphins" and cost only $6.

A friend of mine recently started this wonderful little company called Bubba & Betsy. They have beautiful vegan moisturizing handmade soap. The soap smell is so natural and pleasing. The soup lathers up beautifully. I am going to put a bar or two of these in my fictional Easter Basket.

I would include a journal in my fictional Easter basket. If your recipient doesn't journal, you could put a notepad instead. Everyone needs to make a grocery list now and then.

On my 60th birthday my sister in law Renee gave me a bottle of this lotion. I have become a fan! I get it at Walgreens and a 17.5 oz bottle costs about $20. I realize it is somewhat expensive but it works so well and I love the scents. It feels like a treat to myself everyday. I wish they had small size bottles. I would put one of these in my fictional Easter basket.

I am obsessed with all things "dutch" lately including these delicious cookies! I found stroopwafels at Walgreens and then looked up the company, Daelman's. I would order the coffee flavored stroopwafels for my fictional Easter basket. This package of 8 coffee stroopwafels cost $3.99. However, shipping cost $12.50. I would want to be placing a big order to make the shipping worth it. I also found stroopwafels on the Target and Meijer websites.

stroopwafels.com will bring you to the Daelman's site so you can see the possiblilites.

The final step is the "basket". I am not really thrilled with the cheap plastic baskets that you see everywhere. Who wants to store those? I would chose a tote bag for my dream Easter basket. I love this one. I found it on Etsy.

I had so much fun putting together my dream Easter basket. I encourage you to think outside the "basket" and make yourself or someone else an Easter basket. It is a great year for it! I think we all need this little tradition this year!
