Watching Paint Dry

When I was undergoing radiation, one of things I will never forget is the women I met. The daily routine (for 6 weeks) was to be called back to the radiation area, change into your hospital gown and sit in a little waiting area with other women who were receiving radiation treatment before or after you. Actual radiation is quick, a few minutes at most. I usually saw the same women. One of my favorites was Mrs. B and her daughter. Mrs. B was elderly and being treated for throat cancer. She was receiving both chemo and radiation at the same time and had some rough days. Her daughter came with her and was so sweet to her mom as well as other patients. I loved talking to them.

One day they shared with me something they had been watching that they said really was helping both of them feel calm and peaceful. I wanted a piece of that for sure! It was a you tube channel :

Martin is fixing up a two stone cabins in the Italian Alps while also living there. Most of the videos have minimal talking and are just him building something, hiking or cooking. He has been at this for 2 years and I am up to present day where the cabins look pretty good to live in but it sure didn't start out that way. The photography (especially the drone videos) are gorgeous. The videos are filled with nature sounds and are so peaceful. I introduced Don to the videos and he dutifully watched a few before telling me "this is like watching paint dry".

I guess sometimes one needs to just stop and watch paint dry. For the last two nights I have felt a bit overwhelmed so I watched Martin Doolaard and got the same calming effect that I had a year ago during radiation.

*It also reminds me of Mrs. B and her daughter. I hope Mrs. B beat her cancer and is living her best life.
